The Neverending Story

I felt cheated when I read the never ending story. I thought the movie was a faithful representation of Michael Ende's classic, but it seems I was terribly mistaken. There's pretty much a second part to the story that never gets told in the movie, although it seems the movie makers solved this by putting some parts of it into the sequel, which really doesn't have the same effect as it is intended to be one cohesive story not spread out the way Hollywood thought it should.
Just like the magical talisman AURYN having a dual nature, Ende tries to relay through the book that there's always two sides to a story. One's best wishes might have some damning consequences and this is evident by the transformation the main character Bastian undertakes throughout the course of the story. Without giving too much of the story away, Ende's classic could also be seen as a cautionary tale. Our thoughts and wishes are quite powerful and we should be careful what we desire. Never under estimate the power or true friendship and learn to love yourself, flaws and all.
