Memoirs of a Jew, born in 1928 in Sieradz, Poland. He was sent to the Otoczno labor camp (near Poznań) after the Nazi occupation. In winter 1942 he was sent back to Sieradz, but was soon deported to the Łódź ghetto. In August 1944, Hersh was deported to Auschwitz. In January 1945 he was taken on the death march, transported to Buchenwald, and then sent to Theresienstadt, where he was liberated in May 1945. After the war he settled in Great Britain; his parents perished in Chełmno.
