ii STATISTICAL ABSTRACT FOR BRITISH INDIA. FOREWORD. The second issue contained figures up to and including the year 1921-22. And it is intended that this publication should appear annually and that each successive issue should show the figures of one year later than the previous issue. But in order to bring the publication up to date figures for the two years 1922-23 and 1923-24 have been added in this volume. In the statistics of agriculture and co-operative societies the year runs generally from July to June. All the other tables relate either to the fiscal year (April to March) or to the calendar year, and where the latter is the case it is clearly indicated in the tables.
