relief, the Offices being much congested.
The business has outgrown the accommodation afforded by the present office. A site has therefore been secured, and the
erection of new buildings commenced thereon : provision for the Service is made in the Estimates for 1906–7.
The increase of business rendered the hitherto existing accommodation inadequate. Measures have been taken for the
extension of the Office, and provision is made for the continuation of the work in the Estimates of 1906-7.
The Cable Room bad to be rendered fireproof before the apparatus for the Switch Room could be fixed.

The growth of business rendered the provision of further accommodation an urgent necessity. A site has been acquired

Remanet. The completion of this work was much delayed
through the inability of the Post Office Engineers to obtain the necessary apparatus. This entailed additional expense on the Contractors, who had to keep workmen in attendance
Expenditure to 31st March 1905 upon the Engineers, and a payment of 201. as compensation
for such loss, has, with Treasury approval, been made to them. Expenditure in connection with the fixing of concrete beds for motors, battery racks, &c.
