2 To dwell with Christ in bliss,
Who deign'd for us to bleed,
To know, and see him as he is,
O this is Heaven indeed.

3 The Lamb is there the light,
His glory fills the place,
And all with radiant splendor bright
Behold him face to face.

4 Unutterable joy

And peace

for ever flow,

And pure delights, which never cloy,
Nor end, nor changes know.

5 This hope shall be our stay
In all our troubles here,

To calm our fears, and cheer our way
Till we with Christ appear.

414. The Joy of the Lord. * Mat. 25. 21, Ps. 16. 11. Ps. 36. 8. Heb. 12. 1, 2.

1 O THAT transporting thought!
For ever near our God!

To love and praise him as we ought,
And dwell in his abode!

2 "Tis sweet to know his grace,
From guilt and terror freed;
But O! to see him face to face,
That, that is bliss indeed. -

3 The saints in glory know
The fulness of his joy;
But bitters dash our cup below,
And bring a sad alloy.

4 They dwell where Jesus is
For ever in their sight;
And at the fountain head of bliss
Drink ever new delight.

5 My soul to this aspires,

And bids my fears be still,
And labours too with vast desires
Which none but God can fill.

6 In patience let me bear

These light afflictions now,

My heart, my hope, my treasure there,
Where joys for ever flow.

415. The Church triumphant. * Ps. 16, 11. 1 Cor 13. 10, 12. Rev. 2. 10. Rev. 12. 11. Eph. 6. 10.

1 BEFORE the Saviour's radiant throne
The saints in glory bow;

Their pleasures flow from him alone,
And shall for ever flow.

2 Faintly they trac'd his beauty here,
And feeble were their strains;
But imperfection ceases there,
And light unclouded reigns.

3 Immortal crowns from him they love,
The faithful there receive,

And with adoring hosts above
Eternal praises give.

40 happy souls, releas'd at last
From toils beneath the sun;
Their painful warfare now is past,
The victory is won.

5 Here in their Saviour's strength they fought,
And all their foes withstood;
His powerful word the victory wrought,.
And his redeeming blood.

6 The conflict we awhile prolong,
With enemies in view;

But let us in the Lord be strong,
And we shall conquer too.

416. The glorified. Spirits of the Martyrs. Rev. 7. 9. &c. *

1 WHAT glorious forms are these, who stand Before the throne at God's right hand? Their numbers never can be told,

And all the palms of victory hold.

2 Their robes are of the purest white, And like the sun of dazzling light:

Revered messenger, declare

From whence they came, and who they are?

3 These are the followers of the Lamb,
From tribulation great they came;
They on the earth have faithful stood,
And wash'd their robes in Jesus' blood.
4 Blest in his sight whom they adore,
They hunger and they thirst no more :
No scorching suns can reach them here,
No heat, nor toils have they to fear.

5 These happy souls the Lamb will feed,
And to immortal fountains lead;
Their God confers their bright array
And all their tears will wipe away.

417. Glory. *

2 Cor. 4. 17. Mat. 25. 34. 1 Pet. 5. 4 Rom. 8. 18, 39. Phil. 3. 20. 1 Cor. 15. 43. 1 John 3. 2. Rev. 3 11

1 THERE'S an exceeding weight of bliss Eternal, unexplor'd;

"Tis GLORY,-O my soul rejoice

At that transporting word.

2 GLORY! what thought can rise so high? What tongue can that explain?

A kingdom 'tis for us prepar'd,
Where all the saints shall reign.

3 There they enjoy eternal rest
Secure from grief and fear,
And GLORY's bright, unfading crown
They shall for ever wear.

4 Tho' cruel foes should vex us now,
And persecutions flame,

O these are nothing when compar'd
TO GLORY near the Lamb.

5 No foes can separate our souls
From Christ our living Head;

Our sufferings here are light and short,
And they to GLORY lead.

5 When he the righteous Judge shall come Triumphant in the skies,

Our bodies now in vileness sown

Shall all in GLORY rise.

7 But stay, my soul, what GLORY is
Does not as yet appear;

And 'tis enough for thee to know
'Tis thine, and it is near.

418. Doxology.

GLORY be to the FATHER's name,
And Glory to the SON;

And to the SPIRIT give the same,
The Gop, the Glory one.
