GOODALE, George Pomeroy, theatrical critic; born, Orleans, N. Y., Aug. 12, 1843; son of Elijah and Mary Eleanor (Palmer) Goodale; educated in common schools and in newspaper office; married, N. Almont, N. Y., 1864, Josephine Gardner; again, at Ann Arbor, Mich., 1902, Katherine Brigham Moloney. Began active career as a printer in office of Courier, Geneva, N. Y., 1860; was employed on papers in Angelica, Cuba, Belmont, Elmira, N. Y., and by the World, New York City; came to Detroit, 1865, and has since been continuously upon the staff of the Detroit Free Press; reviewer of the drama and writer of a series of weekly articles entitled "The Kaleidoscope," written by him. over the nom de plume of Signor Max, and appearing since 1904. GORDON, Charles Edwin; born, Chicago, 1866; son of Henry David and Rozella R.
