Tune, Dennis.

PRAYER MEETING TUNE BOOK, PAGE 45.

"The Lord will give grace and glory." Ps. lxxxiv. 11.

COME,

we who love the Lord,

And let our joys be known;

Join in a song with sweet accord,
And thus surround the throne.

2 Let those refuse to sing,

Who never knew our God;
But children of the heavenly King
Should speak their joys abroad.

3 The men of grace have found
Glory begun below:

Celestial fruits on earthly ground,
From faith and hope may grow.

4 The hill of Zion yields

A thousand sacred sweets,
Before we reach the heavenly fields,
Or walk the golden streets.

5 Then let our songs abound,
And every tear be dry;

We're marching through Immanuel's ground To fairer worlds on high.

"Let the people praise thee, O God: let ALL the people praise

thee." Ps. lxvii. 3.

FROM all that dwell below the skies,
Let the Creator's praise arise;

Let the Redeemer's name be sung
Through every land, by every tongue..

2 Eternal are thy mercies, Lord, And truth eternal is thy Word:

Thy praise shall sound from shore to shore, Till suns shall rise and set no more.

"Quicken me, O Lord, for thy name's sake." Ps. cxliii. 11.

COME, Holy Spirit, heavenly Dove,
With all thy quickening powers;

Kindle a flame of sacred love

In these cold hearts of ours.

2 In vain we tune our formal songs,
In vain we strive to rise;

Hosannas languish on our tongues,
And our devotion dies.

3 Dear Lord, and shall we ever live
At this poor dying rate!

Our love so faint, so cold to thee,
And thine to us so great!

4 Come, Holy Spirit, heavenly Dove,
With all thy quickening powers;
Come, shed abroad a Saviour's love,
And that shall kindle ours.

"As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." ROM. viii. 14.

COME, gracious Spirit, heavenly Dove,
With light and comfort from above,
Be thou our Guardian, thou our Guide,
O'er every thought and step preside.

2 The light of truth to us display,
And make us know and choose thy way;
Plant holy fear in every heart,
That we from God may ne'er depart.

3 Lead us to holiness, the road

That we must take to dwell with God;
Lead us to Christ, the living way,
Nor let us from his precepts stray.

4 Lead us to God, our final rest,
In his enjoyment to be blessed;
Lead us to heaven, the seat of bliss,
Where pleasure in perfection is.

"The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost, which is given unto us." Roм. v. 5.

HOLY GHOST, with light divine,

Shine upon this heart of mine;
Chase the shades of night away,
Turn my darkness into day.

2 Holy Ghost, with power divine,
Cleanse this guilty heart of mine;
Long hath sin, without control,
Held dominion o'er my soul.

3 Holy Ghost, with joy divine,
Cheer this saddened heart of mine;
Bid my many woes depart,

Heal my wounded, bleeding heart.

4 Holy Spirit, all divine,

Dwell within this heart of mine;
Cast down every idol throne,
Reign supreme,-and reign alone.

"Pray without ceasing." 1 THESS. v. 17.

JESUS, who knows full well
The heart of every saint,
Invites us all our griefs to tell,
To pray and never faint.

2 He bows his gracious ear-
We never plead in vain;
Then let us wait till he appear,
And pray, and pray again.

3 Jesus, the Lord, will hear

His chosen when they cry;
Yes, though he may awhile forbear,
He'll help them from on high,

4 Then let us earnest cry,

And never faint in

prayer;

He sees, he hears, and from on high,
Will make our cause his care.

"Let us draw near with a true heart." Heb. x. 22.

FROM every stormy wind that blows,

From every swelling tide of woes,

There is a calm, a sure retreat;
'Tis found before the mercy seat.

2 There is a place where Jesus sheds
The oil of gladness on our heads,
A place of all on earth most sweet,
It is the blood-bought mercy seat.

3 There is a scene where spirits blend,
Where friend holds fellowship with friend;
Though sundered far, by faith they meet
Around one common mercy seat.

4 There, there on eagle wings we soar,
And sin and sense molest no more;
And heaven comes down our souls to greet,
And glory crowns the mercy seat.

"In full assurance of faith." HEB. X. 22.

COME, my soul, thy suit prepare,

Jesus loves to answer prayer:
He himself has bid thee pray,
Rise and ask without delay.
Thou art coming to a King,
Large petitions with thee bring,
For his grace and power are such,
None can ever ask too much.

2 With my burden I begin,
Lord, remove this load of sin;
Let thy blood, for sinners spilt,
Set my conscience free from guilt.
Lord, I come to thee for rest,
Take possession of my breast,

There thy blood-bought right maintain, -
And without a rival reign.

3 While I am a pilgrim here,
Let thy love my spirit cheer;
As my Guide, my Guard, my Friend,
Lead me to my journey's end.
Show me what I have to do,
Every hour my strength renew;
Let me live a life of faith,
Let me die thy people's death.
