The Arab Refugee Problem

From the foreword by Paul L. Hanna: The three quarters of a million Arabs who fled from Israel during the Arab-Jewish conflict in 1948 still live in refugee camps or temporary quarters. Unemployed and increasingly unemployable, the exist upon the bounty of the United Nations and dream of a return to homes now occupied by others in a land become alien in its political, economic, and cultural structure. This careful study of the origin, development, and present status of the Arab refugee problem will not have any direct effect in modifying the attitude of the Arab leaders. It should, however, help to sweep away some of the misconceptions current in the Western World and to convince the West that resettlement is the only feasible solution.
