dated and antiquated, which few Men, none, I believe, of the other Sex have ventured to converfe with, fince the time when it was the current Language; did not Your MAJESTY'S moft wife Judgment, and great Clemency, allow to it a favourable Audience, as the Language, in which Your Earlieft Royal, and Pious Progenitors, both laid the Foundation of those Laws, by which You fo happily Govern, and in which They received that Orthodox Faith, of which You are the undoubted Defender. And it is humbly prefumed, that it will

be no lefs agreable to Your MAJESTY, to confider, That the Introduction of the Chriftian Faith, into the Roman Empire, was Effected by the Ever Glo rious Helena, and the Converfion of the Englifb much promoted, by the Endeavours of the First English Chriftian Queen Berhta: than seasonable, to remind Your MAJESTY, of her being congratulated on that Occafion, by the fame Holy Bishop, whose Kindness to this Nation, is recommended to the Knowledge of Your People, in this fmall Treatife, under the Patronage of Your Royal Favour.
