4 Give of thy sons to bear the message glorious;
Give of thy wealth to speed them on their way;
Pour out thy soul for them in prayer victorious;
And all thou spendest Jesus will repay.

5 He comes again: O Zion, ere thou meet Him,
Make known to every heart His saving grace;
Let none whom He hath ransomed fail to greet Him,
Through thy neglect, unfit to see His face.

Mary A. Thompson, 1870

2 Friends and home and all forsaking,
Lord, they go at Thy command;
As their stay Thy promise taking,
While they traverse sea and land:
O be with them,

Lead them safely by the hand.
3 Where no fruit appears to cheer them,
And they seem to toil in vain,
Then in mercy, Lord, draw near them,
Then their sinking hopes sustain :
Thus supported,

Let their zeal revive again.

381 ZION 878 747

I On the mountain's top appearing,
Lo! the sacred herald stands,
Welcome news to Zion bearing,
Zion long in hostile lands;

Mourning captive,

God himself shall loose thy bands.

4 In the midst of opposition,

Let them trust, O Lord, in Thee;
When success attains their mission,
Let Thy servants humbler be:
Never leave them,

Till Thy face in heaven they see; 5 There to reap, in joy for ever,

Fruit that grows from seed here sown;
There to be with Him, who never
Ceases to preserve His own,

And with gladness,
Give the praise to Him alone.
Thomas Kelly, 1826

3 God, thy God, will now restore thee; He Himself appears thy friend;

2 Has thy night been long and mournful? 4
Have thy friends unfaithful proved?
Have thy foes been proud and scornful,
By thy sighs and tears unmoved?
Cease thy mourning,
Zion still is well beloved.

All thy foes shall flee before thee;
Here their boasts and triumphs end;
Great deliverance
Zion's King vouchsafes to send.
Enemies no more shall trouble;

All thy wrongs shall be redressed; For thy shame thou shalt have doubie. In thy Maker's favor blessed;

All thy conflicts
End in everlasting rest.

over-borne, Sin-sick and sor-row-worn, Whom Christ doth heal.

2 Christ for the world we sing;
The world to Christ we bring,

With fervent prayer;
The wayward and the lost,
By restless passion tossed,
Redeemed, at countless cost,
From dark despair.

3 Christ for the world we sing;
The world to Christ we bring,

With one accord;

With us the work to share,
With us reproach to dare,
With us the cross to bear,
For Christ our Lord.

4 Christ for the world we sing;
The world to Christ we bring,
With joyful song;

The new-born souls, whose days,
Reclaimed from error's ways,

Inspired with hope and praise,

To Christ belong.

2 The hosts are mustered to the field, The Cross! the Cross! their battle-call, The old grim towers of darkness yield,

And soon shall totter to their fall. On mountain tops the watch-fires glow, Where scattered wide the watchmen stand;

Voice echoes voice, and onward flow The joyous shouts, from land to land.

3 O fill Thy church with faith and power, Bid her long night of weeping cease, To groaning nations haste the hour

Of life and freedom, light and peace! Come, Spirit, make Thy wonders known, Fulfil the Father's high decree;

Then earth, the might of hell o'erthrown,

Shall keep her last great Jubilee.

1. O North, with all thy vales of green, O South, with all thy palms,

From peopled town and fields be-tween Uplift the voice of psalms;

Raise, ancient East, the an-them high, And let the youth-ful West reply. A-MEN.

2 Lo, in the clouds of heaven appears
God's well-beloved Son;

He brings a train of brighter years;
His kingdom is begun;

He comes a guilty world to bless
With mercy, truth, and righteousness.

3 O Father, haste the promised hour
When at His feet shall lie

All rule, authority, and power
Beneath the ample sky,

When He shall reign from pole to pole,
The Lord of every human soul.

3 When all shall heed the words He said
Amid their daily cares,

And by the loving life He led

Shall seek to pattern theirs;

And He who conquered death shall win

The nobler conquest over sin.

William Cullen Bryant, 1869
