E it enacted by the King's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, 5 as follows::

4. For the purpose of this Act a garden square shall be deemed to be any open space not owned by a public authority to which either the public generally or 5 a limited section of the public shall have had access for a term of years exceeding twenty-five, and which during such period has not had any buildings erected upon it other than buildings required in connection with the use of the land as an open space.

5. The compensation to be payable in respect of any square acquired by council or borough council to the provisions of this Act shall be determined in accordance with Part I. of the Third Schedule of the Town Planning Act, 1925.

6.-(a) The compensation to be paid for any land acquired compulsorily under this Act, including any buildings thereon, shall be the value at the time the valuation is made of the land as a site cleared of buildings and available for development in accordance 20 with the requirements of the building byelaws for the time being in force in the district.

(b) Subject as aforesaid the compensation to be paid for such land shall be assessed in accordance with the Acquisition of Land (Assessment of Compensation) 25 Act, 1919.

7. This Act may be cited as the London Squares (Preservation) Act, 1927.
