Doppler Radar and Weather Observations

Cover
Academic Press, 1993 - 562 Seiten
This book reviews the principles of Doppler radar and emphasizes the quantitative measurement of meteorological parameters. It illustrates the relation of Doppler radar data and images to atmospheric phenomena such as tornadoes, microbursts, waves, turbulence, density, currents, hurricanes and lightning. Radar images and photographs of these weather phenomena are included. Also presented are the latest advances in polarimetric-Doppler technology, along with problem sets at the end of most chapters. This book should be an especially useful reference tool for users of the national network of surveillance Doppler weather radars (NEXRAD), airport weather radars (TDWR) and a demonstration network of wind profiling radars.
