5 Oh, convert them! work within them
By thy Spirit, mightily;
Till, with wonder and amazement,
Multitudes redeemed we see.
Loving Shepherd!

Draw the straying lambs to thee!

L. M.

1 DEAR Saviour, should our children stray Beyond thy blest inclosure's bound, And lured by worldly joys away,

Among the thoughtless crowd be found. 2 In all their erring, youthful years, Oh, let them ne'er forgotten be; Remember all the Saviour's prayers, And by his Cross bring them to thee. 3 And when our lips no more can pray, Our eyes can weep for them no more, Turn thou their feet from folly's way; Our children to thy fold restore.

1 WITH anxious fear and trembling hope We bring the children of our love, To yield them wholly to thy will,

Thou Lord of earth and heaven above.

2 But in thy Word a voice is heard,
Its tones like music sweetly sound;
It bids each anxious fear depart,
And hearts long sad with hope abound.

3 Oh, may our children while they live, Serve thee with an unchanging love; And when their days on earth are done, Then may they dwell with thee above.

4 O Love Divine! we leave them here,
Low in the dust before thy feet;
We ask not honour, wealth nor fame.
But for thy glory make them meet.

1 "I CANNOT see him die,"
A sorrowing mother sighed :
God listened to her plaintive cry
And Ishmael still survived.

2 We have our Ishmaels, too,
Whose peril makes us fear;

Lord, they will perish, shouldst not thou
On their behalf appear.

3 We cannot see them die;
Oh bitter, piercing thought;
Be thou as then a Helper nigh,
With power and pity fraught.

4 Whatever boon beside

Thou may'st withhold or give,
Their earnest prayer turn not aside,
Oh let our Ishmaels live!

1 GRACIOUS Lord, our children see;
By thy mercy set them free;
May our dear ones not remain
Subjects still of Satan's reign.
Israel's young ones, whom of old
Pharaoh threatened to withhold,
Then the Messenger said "No,
Let the children also go!"

2 Lord, we tremble, for we know
How the fierce malicious foe,
Whirling round his watchful flight,
Keeps them ever in his sight.
Spread thy pinions King of kings,
Hide them safe beneath thy wings,
Lest the ravenous bird of prey
Stoop and bear the youth away.

THE INQUIRERS' MEETING.

Tune-"Martyrdom."

1 HEAL us, Immanuel, we are here,
Waiting to feel thy touch;
Deep-wounded souls to thee repair;
And, Saviour, we are such.

2 Our faith is feeble, we confess;
We faintly trust thy Word,
But wilt thou pity us the less?
Be that far from thee, Lord.

3 Remember him who once applied
With trembling for relief:

"Lord, I believe," with tears he cried
"Oh, help my unbelief."

4 She, too, who touched thee in the press, And healing virtue stole,

Was answered: "Daughter, go in peace, Thy faith hath made thee whole." 5 Concealed amid the gathering throng, She would have shunned thy view, And if her faith was firm and strong, Had strong misgivings too.

6 Like her, with hopes and fears we come, To touch thee, if we may;

Oh, send us not despairing home,
Send none unhealed away,

1 OH that my load of sin were gone!
Oh that I could at last submit
At Jesus' feet to lay it down;
To lay my soul at Jesus' feet.

2 When shall mine eyes behold the Lamb-
The God of my salvation see?
Weary, O Lord, of sin I am,

And still I cannot come to thee.

3 Rest for my soul I long to find;
Saviour of all, if mine thou art,
Oh, now upraise my fainting mind,
And seal forgiveness on my heart.

4 Come, Lord, the drooping sinner cheer,
Nor let thy chariot wheels delay.
Appear, in my poor heart appear;
My God, my Saviour, come away.

[blocks in formation]

1 COME, humble sinner, in whose breast A thousand thoughts revolve,

Come, with your guilt and fear oppressed,
And make this last resolve.

2 I'll go to Jesus, though my sin
Hath like a mountain rose;

I know his courts I'll enter in,

Whatever may oppose.
