Ordior, orfus, to begin. So ex-, red ordior.
Experior, expertus, to try.

Oppĕrior, oppertus, to wait or tarry for one.

The following verbs want the participle perfect.

Vefcor, vefci, to feed.

Liquor, liqui, to melt or be diffolved.
Mědeor, mederi, to heal.
Reminifcor, reminisci, to remember.
Irafcor, irafci, to be angry.
Ringor, ringi, to grin like a dog.

Prævertor, præverti, to get befores

to outrun.

Diffiteor, diffiteri, to deny. Divertør, diverti, to turn aside, to take lodging.

Defětifcor, defětisci, to be weary, or faint.

The verbs which do not fall under any of the foregoing rules are called Irregular..

IRREGULAR VERBS.

The irregular verbs are commonly reckoned eight } fum, eo, queo, volo, nōlo, mālo, fĕro, and fio, with their com pounds.

But properly there are only fix; nolo and malo being compounds

of volo.

Sum has already been conjugated. After the fame manner are formed its compounds, ad-, ab-, de-, inter-, præ-, ob-, fub-, super-sum ; and infum, which wants the preterite.

Eo, ivi, itum, īre, To go.

Indicative Mode.

The compounds of eo are conjugated after the fame manner; ad-, ab-, ex-, ob-, red-, fub-, per-, co, in-, præ, ante-, prod-eo: So likewise veneo, -ii, (of venum a fale, and co) to be fold. But ambio, to furround, is a regular verb of the fourth conjugation.

In the tenfes formed from the perfect, the compounds are ufually contracted; as, adii, adiisti or adîsti, adiĕram, adiĕrim, &c.

Eo, like other neuter verbs, is often rendered in English under a paffive form; thus, it, he is going; ivit, he is gone; ivěrat, he was gone; iverit, he may be gone, or fhall be gone. So venit, he is coming; venit, he is come; venerat, he was come, &c. In the paffive voice thefe verbs for the most part are only used imperfonally; as, itur ab illo, he is going; ventum eft ab illis, they are come. We find fome of the compounds of eo, however, ufed perfonally; as pericula adeuntur, are undergone, Cic. Libri fibyllini aditi funt, were looked into. Liv. Flumen pedibus tranfiri poteft. Cæs. Inimicitia fubeantur. Çic.

QUEO, I can, and NEQUEO, I cannot, are conjugated the fame way as co; only they want the imperative and the gerunds; and the participles are feldom used.
