The publication of the final three volumes (only Volume IV has been seen by Book News but the price shown is for the set of Volumes III-V) completes what is surely the most comprehensive work in English on Ukraine--its history, people, geography, economy, and culture, both in Ukraine and in the diaspora. Volume I was published in 1984, and Volume II in 1988. The simultaneous publication of the final three volumes has afforded the contributors the opportunity to incorporate information in all three volumes about the rapid changes in Ukraine after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Each volume contains some 3,000 entries, 800 illustrations, and 36 maps. The Encyclopedia is a completely revised and updated version of Entsyklopediia ukrainoznavstva. It was prepared under the auspices of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies (U. of Alberta), the Shevchenko Scientific Society (Sarcelles, France), and the Canadian Foundation for Ukrainian Studies. Annotation copyright by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR.
