I had fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of
the living. Ps. xxvii: 13.

I Father! in Thy mysterious presence kneeling,
Fain would our souls receive Thy kindling love;
For we are weak, and need some deep revealing

Of trust, and strength, and calmness from above.

2 Lord! we have wandered forth through doubt and sorrow,
And Thou hast made each step an onward one;

And we will trust in each unknown to-morrow
Thou wilt sustain us till its work is done.

3 In the heart's depths, a peace serene and holy
Lingers; and when pain seems to have her will,
Or we despair, oh! may that peace rise slowly,
Stronger than agony, and we be still.

4 Now, Father! now in Thine own presence kneeling,
Our spirits yearn to feel Thy kindling love;
O make us strong; we need Thy deep revealing
Of trust, and strength, and calmness from above.

O for a heart that never sins, O for a soul washed white, 1:0 for a voice to praise our King, Nor weary day or night! :|| Here faith is ours, and heavenly hope, And grace to lead us higher; But there are perfectness and peace, Beyond our best desire:

O by Thy love and anguish, Lord,

O by Thy life laid down,

How fast they tire and faint: ||:Grant that we fall not from Thy

Nor cast away our crown !:

3 There is a spot where spirits blend,

Where friend holds fellowship with friend;
Though sundered far, by faith they meet
Around one common mercy-seat.

4 There, there, on eagles' wings we soar,
And time and sense seem all no more;
And heaven comes down, our souls to greet,
And glory crowns the mercy-seat.

A-MEN.
