My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord. Ps. v: 3. 1 When morning gilds the skies, Or fades my earthly bliss ? My heart awaking cries,

My comfort still is this, May Jesus Christ be praised ! May Jesus Christ be praised ! Alike at work and prayer

4 The night becomes as day, To Him do I repair ;

When from the heart we say, May Jesus Christ be praised !

May Jesus Christ be praised ! 2 When sleep her balm denies, The powers of darkness fear, My silent spirit sighs,

When this sweet chant they hear, May Jesus Christ be praised! May Jesus Christ be praised! When evil thoughts molest,

5 In heaven's eternal bliss, With this I shield my breast,

The loveliest strain is this,
May Jesus Christ be praised !

May Jesus Christ be praised ! 3 Does sadness fill my mind ? Let earth, and sea, and sky, A solace here I find,

From depth to height reply, May Jesus Christ be praised ! May Jesus Christ be praised !

MEN.

I myself will awake early. Ps. cviii: 2.

1 Awake, my soul, and with the sun

Thy daily stage of duty run;
Shake off dull sloth, and joyful rise
To pay thy morning sacrifice.

2 Let all thy converse be sincere,

Thy conscience as the noon-day clear;
Think how the all-seeing God, thy ways
And all thy secret thoughts surveys.

3 Glory to Thee, who safe hast kept,

And hast refresh'd me while I slept;
Grant, Lord, when I from death shall wake,
I may of endless light partake.

4 Lord, I my vows to Thee renew;

Scatter my sins as morning dew;
Guard my first spring of thought and will,
And with Thyself my spirit fill.

5 Direct, control, suggest this day

All I design, or do, or say ;
That all my pow'rs, with all their might,
In Thy sole glory may unite. Dox. X.
