A history of the Jews in Hungen (Hesse) from the Middle Ages until post-World War II, written by five members of the Arbeitsgruppe Spurensuche which was founded in 1988. Focuses on residents of the town in the 19th-20th centuries, including the fate of those who were victims of the Holocaust - Gerhard Stein and six Jewish families: Buch, Steinhauer, Seelig, Katz, Gerendasi, and Oppenheimer. Pp. 138-139 contain an alphabetical list of 72 Jewish residents who lived in Hungen in 1933. Some managed to emigrate; nine Jewish residents who remained in Hungen were deported in September 1942 to Theresienstadt. In 1990 a monument was erected to commemorate the former Jewish residents of Hungen.
