The content of the book is very interesting and I've used it for studying English Linguistics for a number of times. The text is written comprehensively, so that one can follow the ideas even if one is not a native speaker (a certain level of proficiency is needed though). The only point I REALLY criticize about the book is the form: I think the pages and chapters could be structured wayyyyy better and the highly numerous references (in brackets within the whole text) really make it hard to stay concentrated and "within the sphere" since the text is broken continuously through these references. Except that, I can recomment the book. Easier to read though is Carol Myers-Scotton's "Multiple Voices", also a great book for studying Bilingualism (but I think it does not include as much about bilingual EDUCATION as Baker's book does)
