Acts and Proceedings

Of the General Synod of the Reformed Dutch Church in North America, convened in the city of Albany, on Wednesday, the first day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty-one. The Session continued from the first to the tenth day of June inclusive.

FORMATION OF SYNOD.

ARTICLE I.

Opening of Synod.

The Synod was opened with prayer by the Rev. Wilhelmus Eltinge, the President of the last General Synod; who preached a sermon in the evening of the first day of the Session, from Genesis xlv. 24. "See that ye fall not out by the way.”

ARTICLE II.

Moderators.

The Rev. John Gosman was chosen President.

The Rev. Samuel A. Van Vranken was chosen Adsessor.

The Rev. Messrs. Abraham H. Dumont and Benjamin C. Taylor, were chosen Clerks, pro tem.

The Rev. S. A. Van Vranken having obtained leave of absence on the afternoon of the first day of the session, Synod proceeded to the election of an Adsessor in his place, when the Rev. Philip Duryea was chosen.

ARTICLE IV.

Reading of the Minutes.

The Minutes of the last Annual Session of Synod were read.
