LAUDED be thy name forever

Lead, kindly light, amid the encircling gloom
Lift your glad voices in triumph on high
Light of those whose dreary dwelling

Lord Jesus, come! for here

Lord, with fervor I would praise thee

701

Lo, the day of rest declineth

Lo, what a glorious sight appears

Lowly and solemn be

MY God, thy boundless love I praise
My soul, what hast thou done for God.
My spirit longeth for thee.

NEARER, my God, to thee.
New every morning is the love
No war nor battle's sound.
Now condescend, almighty King
Now to the Lord a noble song.

SHALL we grow weary in our watch
Slowly by God's hand unfurled

So fades the lovely, blooming flower
Softly now the light of day
Sometimes a light surprises.
Sow in the morn thy seed
Speak gently, it is better far.

Sweet is the work, my God, my King
Sweet the moments, rich in blessing.

THE billows swell, the winds are high
The bird that soars on highest wing.
The earth, all light and loveliness
The glories of our birth and state.
The look, the fashion of God's ways
The morning light is breaking.
The praying spirit breathe

[blocks in formation]

There is an hour of peaceful rest

754

There is an eye that never sleeps

635

The Saviour comes! no outward pomp

644

[blocks in formation]

Think gently of the erring

690

Thou art gone to the grave; but we will not deplore thee.

755

Thou art, O God, the life and light

636

Thou hidden source of calm repose

[merged small][ocr errors]

Thou, infinite in love

658

Thou must go forth alone, my soul
Thou who didst stoop below
