Gen. i. 26. 1 m THE last great day of work had come With joy her teeming brood forth bring, 2 mf So beast and cattle, creeping thing, Fresh from their great Creator's hand, " 3 God spake :-and through the heavenly A thrill of adoration ran- 4 Then rose from earth's benignant breast, my Not then, as now, worn, weak, and wan, Formed with a wondrous power to span 5 ƒ And as in wonder, love, and joy, They stood on earth's primeval shore, The word went forth: Each fruitful valley, plain, and hill, 6 ƒ And over all dominion hold, And all alike shall own thy sway; 7 ƒ Then praise Him, sun, and moon, and stars, cres Beast, cattle, creeping things, and ye, 8 mf But thou, in God's own image made, A soul to live unfettered, free, With Him for evermore ; 9 And Who, when thou wast dead in sin, Hath come in His redeeming love, The second Adam, to restore His image, that was thine before; Amen. 76 VII. SATURDAY. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He 1 AND now, 'mid myriad worlds enthroned, Whilst stars in adoration stood, God saw the earth's foundation laid, 2 m Six days had gone ;-then calmly woke 3 Р РР The seventh, in new-born beauty drest For all He thought to do was done, ; Rest! hallowed rest! (mf) for God Himself, Though needing not, yet rested now; Rest! hallowed rest! (cres) (for so He wills) Both man and beast with joyaunce fills, my The cattle on a thousand hills, As all before Him bow. 4 Then praises to our Heavenly King, Who in His own transcendent love dim Was laid to rest within the grave p This day, (cres) a fallen race to save, That they, though lost, through Him might have Eternal rest above. 5 And myriad tongues henceforth shall tell, Amen.
