With Thee is the well of life, and in Thy light
shall we see light. Ps. xxxvi. 9.

1 mf COME, Thou Spirit of all light,
And from Thy celestial height
Rays of heavenly glory dart.
Come, Thou Father of the poor,
Giver from a boundless store,

Come, Thou Light of every heart.

2 mf Thou, of all consolers Best,

[ocr errors]

Thou, the soul's most welcome Guest,
And to all a sure Relief;

In our toil a calm Retreat,
Grateful Shade in summer heat,
Solace in our greatest grief!

3 mf Light Immortal! Light Divine !
Visit Thou these hearts of Thine,
And our inmost being fill;

[ocr errors]

If Thou take Thy grace away,
Nothing pure in man will stay,
Nothing then but thoughts of ill.

7s.

4 mf Heal our wounds; our strength renew;
On our dryness pour Thy dew;
Wash the stains of guilt away:
Bend the stubborn heart and will;
Melt the frozen, warm the chill;
Guide the steps that go astray.

5 mf Thou, on those who evermore
Thee confess and Thee adore,

In Thy sevenfold gifts descend:
p Give them comfort when they die;
cres Give them life with Thee on high;

Give them joys that never end. Amen. Robert II. of France (972-1031); tr. E. Caswall (1815-1878);

waters. Gen. i. 2.
