The cost of this Force is recoverable from the German Government; the amount estimated to be received in 1923-24 is allowed for under Head VI., p. 202. TURKEY. The question of the future British Force in Turkey was not settled at the time these Estimates were prepared. The garrison here assumed is purely provisional. A repayment by the Air Ministry of 1,000l. in respect of part cost of the Depot of the Egyptian Army Transport Corps on account of personnel serving in Palestine is included under Sums Receivable (Armies Abroad excluding Middle East). COMMISSIONS ABROAD. Covers the military staff of the Commissions of Control in Germany (241 all ranks), the cost of which is repayable by Germany. It also covers the Allied Military Committee, Paris (5), and other Missions (2). IRAQ. The provision for Iraq covers only British Army combatant units and certain details. Departmental services generally are provided under Air Ministry Votes. The cost of the whole is recoverable from the Colonial Office (see pp. 4, 5, & 6). It is proposed to reduce the British battalions from two to one in the course of the year.
