Pp. 83-1604 present brief historical accounts of the Jewish communities of Niedersachsen and Bremen (arranged alphabetically and written by different authors) from the beginning of the settlement of Jews there until World War II. Mentions cases of antisemitic violence in the medieval period, persecutions, forced conversions, well-poisoning accusations, the Crusades, and expulsions. Accounts of the Nazi period describe acts of discrimination, exclusion, persecution, the "Kristallnacht" pogrom, emigration, arrests, and deportations.
