Excerpt from Hortus Cantabrigiensis, or a Catalogue of Plants, Indigenous and Exotic: Cultivated in the Botanic Garden, Cambridge

All the Copies of the first impression of the Harms Cantabrigiensis being sold, and the number of Species of Plants in cultivation having been very considerably increased since the publication of it-ia the year 1796, the Curator thankfully avails himself of the kind indul gence of the Syndics of the University Press, and offers to the public this present Edition. It was his intention, in the course of the work, to have referred the Botanical Student to the best Engraved Figures of Plants that have, at various times, been published; but his plan requiring that his book should be so small as to be portable without inconvenience, this was found to be altogether impracticable.
