Was re-appointed by Mayor Van Wyck early in 1898, and, on May 19, 1900, was elected president of the new School Board of the Boroughs of Manhattan and The Bronx to succeed Joseph J. Little, resigned. By virtue of this office, is president Central Board of Education and chairman boards of trustees of the College of the City of New York, and of the Normal College. Represented the Seventeenth Congressional District in the House of Representatives, 1895-9.
