"Provided due notice of his intention to hold such post-mortem examination or special examination has been given to the trade union representative of the deceased, and that such trade union have the right to be represented by a qualified medical practitioner at such post-mortem examination or special examination" —(Mr. Lee).

Another Amendment proposed, in page 14, line 27, at the end, to insert the words "and if it is a case where the question of payment of compensation under the Workmen's Compensation Acts is likely to arise, the trade union of which deceased was a member may call the medical practitioner who has attended the post-mortem or special examination on their behalf at the inquest, and ask him questions, and he shall have a right to answer such questions and give evidence upon any matters arising out of the examination "—(Mr. Lee).—Question put, "That those words be there inserted."-The Committee divided:

Another Amendment proposed, in page 14, line 44, after the last added Amendment, to add the words :

"Following any such statement it shall be the duty of the coroner to forthwith notify in writing the medical practitioner or other person as aforesaid of such statement, and such medical practitioner or other person as aforesaid shall be entitled to be present or be represented at any post-mortem examination "-(Mr. Rye).

Clause 23.

Amendment proposed, in page 15, line 8, to leave out the word "attending," in order to insert the words "each day's attendance"-(Major-General Sir Richard Luce),instead thereof. Question proposed, "That the word 'attending' stand part of the Clause."

Another Amendment proposed, in page 15, line 10, to leave out the words "one guinea," in order to insert the words "one-and-a-half guineas for each day on which he is required to attend"-(Captain Hacking),-instead thereof.-Question, "That the words 'one guinea' stand part of the Clause," -put, and negatived.
