HOUSE OF LORDS.

Die Martis, 9° Novembris, 1926.

Moved, to resolve, That it is desirable that all Consolidation Bills in the present Session be referred to a Joint Committee of both Houses of Parliament (The Lord Muir Mackenzie); agreed to: Ordered, That a Message be sent to the Commons to communicate this Resolution, and to desire their concurrence.

Message from the Commons that they concur in the Resolution of this House communicated to them on Tuesday the 9th instant on the subject of Consolidation Bills as desired by this House.

Moved, That a Committee of Six Lords be appointed to join with a Committee of the House of Commons as a Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills (The Lord Chancellor):

The Lords following were named of the Committee

E. Lucan.

L. Monkswell.

L. Gorell.

L. Muir Mackenzie.
L. Askwith.

L. Warrington of Clyffe.

Ordered, That such Committee have power to agree with the Committee of the House of Commons in the appointment of a Chairman.

Then a message was ordered to be sent to the House of Commons to acquaint them therewith, and to request them to appoint Six Members of that House to be joined with the said Committee.

Message from the Commons to acquaint this House that they have appointed a Committee of Six Members to join with the Committee appointed by this House, as mentioned in their Lordships' Message of the 23rd instant, as a Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills, and a message ordered to be sent to the House of Commons to propose that the Joint Committee do meet in the Chairman of Committee's Committee Room on Wednesday next, at half-past Eleven o'clock; leave given to the Joint Committee to report from time to time.

Message from the Commons that they have ordered that the Committee appointed by them to join with a Committee of this House as a Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills do meet the Committee appointed by their Lordships in the Chairman of Committee's Committee Room, To-morrow, at half-past Eleven o'clock.

[Tuesday, 9th November, 1926] :-Message from the Lords, Consolidation Bills,-That they communicate that they have come to the following Resolution, viz.: "That it is desirable that all Consolidation Bills in the present Session be referred to a Joint Committee of both Houses of Parliament."

[Friday, 19th November, 1926] - Consolidation Bills,Ordered, That the Lords Message [9th November] communicating the Resolution, That it is desirable that all Consolidation Bills of the present Session be referred to a Joint Committee of both Houses of Parliament, be now considered.-(Colonel Gibbs.)

[Wednesday, 24th November, 1926].-Message from the Lords, Consolidation Bills,-That they have appointed a Committee consisting of six Lords to join with a Committee of the Commons to consider of all Consolidation Bills in the present Session, and request the Commons to appoint an equal number of their Members to be joined with the said Lords.

[Thursday, 25th November, 1926] :-Consolidation Bills,Ordered, That the Lords Message [24th November] relative to Consolidation Bills be now considered.-(Mr. Frederick

Lords Message considered accordingly.

Ordered, That a Select Committee of six Members be appointed to join with a Committee appointed by the Lords to consider all Consolidation Bills of the present Session. (Mr. Frederick Thomson.)

Colonel England, Sir Malcolm Macnaghten, Mr. Neville, Mr. Robert Hudson, Colonel Windsor-Clive, and Sir Henry Slesser nominated Members of the Committee.

Ordered, That the Committee have power to send for persons, papers, and records.
