✰ WHEN

WHEN wounded sore the stricken soul 3 When penitence has wept in vain Lies bleeding and unbound,

cr One only hand, a piercèd hand, Can salve the sinner's wound.

mf

[blocks in formation]

Over some foul dark spot,

cr One only stream, a stream of blood, Can wash away the blot.

4

I bring my grief to Thee,
The grief I cannot tell;
No words shall needed be,
Thou knowest all so well.

I bring the sorrow laid on me,
O suffering Saviour, now to Thee.
f5 My joys to Thee I bring,

The joys Thy love hath given,
That each may be a wing
To lift me nearer heaven.

I bring them, Saviour, all to Thee,
For Thou hast purchased all for me

mf 6 My life I bring to Thee,
I would not be my own;
O Saviour, let me be
Thine ever, Thine alone.

f My heart, my life, my all I bring
To Thee, my Saviour and my King!

mf WE praise and bless Thee, gracious 4 But yet how much must be destroyed,

Lord,

Our Saviour kind and true,

For all the old things passed away,

For all Thou hast made new.

2 The old security is gone

In which so long we lay;

cr The sleep of death Thou hast dispelled, The darkness rolled away.

f 3 New hopes, new purposes, desires, And joys, Thy grace has given; Old ties are broken from the earth, New ones attach to heaven.

How much renewed must be, Ere we can fully stand complete

In likeness, Lord, to Thee!

mf 5 Thou, only Thou, must carry on
The work Thou hast begun;

Of Thine own strength Thou must impart,
In Thine own ways to run.

f 6 So shall we faultless stand at last
Before Thy Father's throne,
The blessedness for ever ours,
The glory all Thine own. Amen.
