MEDITATION.

I have now arrived at the conclusion of another month: how has it been spent by me? What progress have I been making in my Christian warfare? Have I been praying daily for God's grace and assistance to enable me to mortify and subdue all my sinful lusts and affections, and for his Holy Spirit, to cleanse me from all my sins? Have I been thankful for all past mercies ? Have I been obedient to my superiors, rendering to all their dues, tribute to whom tribute is due, custom to whom custom, fear to whom fear, honour to whom honour? In short, have I been striving to "

grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ ?" Or, have I been, on the contrary, spending my time in trifles, neglecting public and private prayer, living regardless of God, and forgetful of eternity? Let conscience speak, and let me be attentive to its impulses, whilst time and opportunity permit:

This Monitor within my breast

Will teach me what is right:
If I take heed to what it says,
And don't its dictates slight.
