2 When the strife of sin is stilled,

4 When the heart by sorrow tried When the foe within is killed,

Feels at length its throbs subside, Be Thy gracious word fulfilled,

Bring us, where all tears are dried, Peace for evermore!

Joy for evermore! 3 When the darkness melts away

5 When for vanished days we yearn, At the breaking of the day,

Days that never can return,
Bid us hail the cheering ray;

Teach us in Thy love to learn
Light for evermore!

Love for evermore!
6 When the breath of life is flown,

When the grave must claim its own,
Lord of life! be ours Thy crown;
Life for evermore! Amen.

A calm and un-dis-turb'd re-pose, Un-broken by the last of foes.

A-men.

2 Asleep in Jesus! oh, how sweet

To be for such a slumber meet;
With holy confidence to sing

That death hath lost its painful sting! 3 Asleep in Jesus! peaceful rest,

Whose waking is supremely blest;
No fear, no woe, shall dim that hour
That manifests the Saviour's power.

4 Asleep in Jesus! oh, for me

May such a blissful refuge be!
Securely shall my ashes lie,

Waiting the summons from on high. 5 Asleep in Jesus! far from thee

Thy kindred and their graves may be;
But thine is still a blessèd sleep,
From which none ever wakes to weep.

Amen.

2 The light of truth to us display,

And make us know and choose Thy way;
Plant holy fear in every heart,
That we from Thee may ne'er depart.

3 Lead us to Christ, the living Way,

Nor let us from His precepts stray;
Lead us to holiness, the road
That we must take to dwell with God.

4 Lead us to heaven, that we may share

Fullness of joy forever there:
Lead us to God, our final rest,
To be with Him forever blest. Amen.
