PSALM LI. HAVE mercy upon me, O God, according to thy loving-kindness: According unto the multitude of thy tender Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, That thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, Behold I was shapen in iniquity; And in sin did my mother conceive me. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: And in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness; That the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins, And blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; And take not thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; And uphold me with thy free Spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; And my tongue shall sing aloud of thy right eousness. O Lord, open thou my lips; And my mouth shall show forth thy praise. For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: Thou delightest not in burnt-offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: A broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. PSALM LVII. BE merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: For my soul trusteth in thee: Yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, Until these calamities be overpast. I will cry unto God Most High; Unto God that performeth all things for me. He shall send from heaven, and save me From the reproach of him that would swallow me up. My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations. Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: PSALM LXII. TRULY my soul waiteth upon God: He is my defence; I shall not be greatly My soul, wait thou only upon God; He only is my rock and my salvation : He is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in Trust in him at all times; ye people, Pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: To be laid in the balance, They are altogether lighter than vanity. Trust not in oppression, And become not vain in robbery: If riches increase, set not your heart upon them. God hath spoken once; Twice have I heard this; That power belongeth unto God. Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: For thou renderest to every man according to his work. PSALM LXIII. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: My soul thirsteth for thee, My flesh longeth for thee, In a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, So as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. Because thy loving-kindness is better than life; My lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; And my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, And meditate on thee in the night watches. Because thou hast been my help, Therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I re- My soul followeth hard after thee: PSALM LXV. PRAISE waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: And unto thee shall the vow be performed. O thou that hearest prayer, Unto thee shall all flesh come. Iniquities prevail against me: As for our transgressions, thou shalt away. purge them Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and caus est to approach unto thee, That he may dwell in thy courts: We shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, Even of thy holy temple. By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou an swer us, O God of our salvation; Who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, And of them that are afar off upon the sea: Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; Being girded with power: Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, And the tumult of the people. They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens. Thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice. Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: Thou greatly enrichest it With the river of God, which is full of water: Thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it. Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: Thou makest it soft with showers: thou bless est the springing thereof. Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; And thy paths drop fatness. They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness. |
