In Exsilium is a unique travelogue in the form of poems that arose from over twenty years of voluntary exile. At a very young age, the author had been addicted to travelling, playing the saxophone and writing. He combined these passions in life in this fascinating book that provides insight into his life's adventures. His poetry is very visual and varies from being euphoric to being frightening. His symbolic use of color is like a 'red thread' that connects everything. One section of In Exsilium gives a different twist to his work and contributes to the international appeal of this restless poet. Gerard was born in Cornieje's Heerenberg in the year 1962. To his parents' despair, he began traveling at the age of fourteen by hitchhiking from England to France. It was also at that time that he started writing poems. After many years of wandering as a saxophonist, he currently lives in Spain with his wife Claire and sons, Max and Moritz. He is a presenter for The Learning Partnership and continues to travel around the world for his work.
