1 Every morning mercies new Fall as fresh as morning dew; Every morning let us pay Tribute with the early day: For Thy mercies, Lord, are sure; Thy compassion doth endure.
2 Still the greatness of Thy love Daily doth our sins remove; Daily, far as east from west, Lifts the burden from the breast; Gives unbought, to those who pray, Strength to stand in evil day.
3 Let our prayers each morn prevail, That these gifts may never fail ; And, as we confess the sin And the tempter's power within, Feed us with the Bread of Life; Fit us for our daily strife.
4 As the morning light returns, As the sun with splendor burns, Teach us still to turn to Thee, Ever blessed Trinity,
With our hands our hearts to raise, In unfailing prayer and praise. Amen.
Are visibly expressed :
2 The sun is sinking now, and one by one The lamps of evening shine:
We hymn the eternal Father, and the Son, And Holy Ghost divine.
3 Worthy art Thou at all times to receive Our hallowed praises, Lord:
O Son of God, be Thou, in Whom we live, Through all the world adored. Amen.
2 Forgive me, Lord, for Thy dear Son, The ill that I this day have done; That with the world, myself, and Thee; I, ere I sleep, at peace may be.
3 Teach me to live, that I may dread The grave as little as my bed; Teach me to die, that so I may Rise glorious at the awful day.
4 O may my soul on Thee repose,
And may sweet sleep mine eyelids close; Sleep that shall me more vigorous make To serve my God when I awake.
5 When in the night I sleepless lie,
My soul with heavenly thoughts supply; Let no ill dreams disturb my rest, No powers of darkness me molest.
6 On, when shall I, in endless day, Forever chase dark sleep away, And hymns divine with angels sing, All praise to Thee, eternal King?
7 Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host: Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
1 The radiant morn hath passed away, And spent too soon her golden store; The shadows of departing day Creep on once more.
2 Our life is but an autumn day, Its glorious noon how quickly past; Lead us, O Christ, Thou living Way,
3 Oh, by Thy soul-inspiring grace Uplift our hearts to realms on high; Help us to look to that bright place Beyond the sky;
4 Where light, and life, and joy, and peace In undivided empire reign,
And thronging angels never cease Their deathless strain;
5 Where saints are clothed in spotless white, And evening shadows never fall, Where Thou, eternal Light of Light, Art Lord of all. Amen.
1 Sun of my soul, Thou Saviour dear, It is not night if Thou be near; Oh, may no earth-born cloud arise To hide Thee from Thy servant's eyes.
2 When the soft dews of kindly sleep My weary eyelids gently steep, Be my last thought, how sweet to rest For ever on my Saviour's breast.
3 Abide with me from morn till eve, For without Thee I cannot live; Abide with me when night is nigh, For without Thee I dare not die.
4 If some poor wandering child of Thine Have spurn'd to-day the voice divine, Now, Lord, the gracious work begin; Let him no more lie down in sin.
1 The sun is sinking fast, The daylight dies; Let love awake, and pay Her evening sacrifice.
2 As Christ upon the cross His head inclined,
And to his Father's hands His parting soul resigned;
3 So now herself my soul Would wholly give Into His sacred charge,
In Whom all spirits live;
4 So now beneath His eye
Would calmly rest, Without a wish or thought Abiding in the breast;
5 Save that His will be done, Whate'er betide;
Dead to herself, and dead In Him to all beside.
6 Thus would I live: yet now Not I, but He,
In all His power and love, Henceforth alive in me.
7 One sacred Trinity,
One Lord divine, May I be ever His,
And He for ever mine. Amen.
1 The day is past and over: All thanks, O Lord, to Thee: We pray Thee that offenceless The hours of dark may be.
O Jesus, keep us in Thy sight, And save us through the coming night.
