joying that happiness which he is gone to prepare for all his sincere disciples and followers. May divine grace in this way enable me to escape the dreadful punishments which will certainly be inflicted upon all obstinate sinners; and may the good spirit of God lead me from one degree of holiness and virtue to another, until at length I become meet for the inheritance of the saints in light. Then may celestial envoys conduct me safe to those ravishing and transporting joys, which will be the eternal possession of all those who trust in the mercy and goodness of God, through the mediation of Jesus Christ; to whom be glory in all the churches, world without end....AMEN. ALMIGHTY and most merciful Father, I adore Thee as the Former and Upholder of all things; as the Author of my life and being, the Fountain of all my past and present mercies, and the Foundation of all my future hopes. Blessed be thy name for the repose of the last night, and for causing me to see the light of another day in comfort. Keep me this day in thy fear and love; and wheresoever I may go, or in whatever occupations I may be engaged, let me not forget Thee, or be drawn aside from the path of my duty into the ways of sin or folly. By all the occurrences of the day, may I learn some profitable lessons: In all my converse with others, may I aim at doing and getting good. With grief and shame must I at the same time confess and bewail the many errors, imperfections, and failings of my past life, and particularly any instances wherein I have this day transgressed thy righteous laws, or neglected the duty which I owe Thee. Pardon, good Lord, for thy mercy's sake, as manifested in and by thy Son Jesus Christ, whatever hath been amiss in my past temper and conduct. Cleanse me by thy sanctifying grace from all un righteousness, that I may always live for the time to come, as under thine immediate presence, and as becometh one who is accountable to Thee for the whole of his conduct.
