The eyes of all wait for thee; And thou givest them their food in due season.

Thou hast set all the borders of the earth:

Thou hast made summer and win

The Lord is righteous in all his ways, And holy in all his works.

The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him,

To all that call upon him in truth.

He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him;

And that a foolish people hath blasphemed thy name.

Oh deliver not the soul of thy turtle-

Forget not the life of thy poor for-

Have respect unto the covenant;

The Lord preserveth all them that love him;

But all the wicked will he destroy.

My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord;

And let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.

Evening

God is my King of old, Working salvation in the midst of the earth.

Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength:

Thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters.

Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces;

Thou gavest him to be food to the people inhabiting the wilderness.

Thou didst cleave fountain and flood:

Thou driedst up mighty rivers. The day is thine, the night also is thine:

Thou hast prepared the light and the sun.

The Lord doth build up Jerusalem;
He gathereth together the outcasts
of Israel.

He healeth the broken in heart,
And bindeth up their wounds.

He counteth the number of the
stars;

He calleth them all by their names.

Great is our Lord, and mighty in

power;

His understanding is infinite.

The Lord lifteth up the meek:
He casteth the wicked down to the
ground.

Sing unto the Lord with thanks-
giving;

Sing praises upon the harp unto our God,

Who covereth the heavens with clouds,

Who prepareth rain for the earth,
Who maketh grass to grow upon
the mountains.

He giveth to the beast his food,
And to the young ravens which cry.

He delighteth not in the strength
of the horse:

He taketh no pleasure in the legs of a man.

The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him,

In those that hope in his mercy.

Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem;
Praise thy God, O Zion.

For he hath strengthened the bars
of thy gates;

He hath blessed thy children within thee.

He maketh peace in thy borders; He filleth thee with the finest of the wheat.

He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth;

His word runneth very swiftly.

He giveth snow like wool;

He scattereth the hoarfrost like
ashes.

He casteth forth his ice like morsels:
Who can stand before his cold?

He sendeth out his word, and
melteth them:

He causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.

He showeth his word unto Jacob, His statutes and his ordinances unto Israel.

He hath not dealt so with any
nation;

And as for his ordinances, they
have not known them.
Praise ye the Lord.

Evening

O God, the heathen are come into. thine inheritance;

Thy holy temple have they defiled; They have laid Jerusalem in. heaps.

have they given to be food unto the The dead bodies of thy servants

birds of the heavens,

The flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.

Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; And there was none to bury them. We are become a reproach to our neighbors,

A scoffing and derision to them that
are round about us.

How long, O Lord? wilt thou be
angry forever?
Shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

Remember not against us the iniquities of our forefathers:

Let thy tender mercies speedily meet us;

For we are brought very low.

Help us, O God of our salvation,
for the glory of thy name;
And deliver us, and forgive our
sins, for thy name's sake.

Wherefore should the heathen say,
Where is their God?

Let the avenging of thy servants' blood that is shed

Be known among the nations before our eyes.

Let the sighing of the prisoner
come before thee:
According to the greatness of thy

power preserve thou those that are
appointed to die;

So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture

Will give thee thanks forever: We will show forth thy praise to all generations.

Fifty-first Sunday
Morning

Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, Thou that leadest Joseph like a flock;

Thou that sittest between the cherubim, shine forth.

Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up thy might, And come to save us.

Turn us again, O God; And cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.

O Lord God of hosts,

How long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?

Thou hast fed them with the bread of tears,

And givest them tears to drink in large measure.

Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbors;

And our enemies laugh among themselves.

Turn again, O God of hosts;
And cause thy face to shine, and
we shall be saved.

Thou broughtest a vine out of
Egypt:

Thou didst drive out the heathen,
and plantedst it.

Thou preparedst room before it, And it took deep root, and filled

the land.

The hills were covered with the shadow of it,

And the boughs thereof were like the goodly cedars.

It sent out its boughs unto the

sea,

And its branches unto the River.

Why hast thou broken down its hedges,

So that all they that pass by the way do pluck it?

The boar out of the wood doth waste it,

And the wild beasts of the field feed on it.

Turn again, we beseech thee, O God of hosts:

Look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine,

And the stock which thy right hand planted,

And the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.

[blocks in formation]

Thou answeredst them, O Lord our God:

Thou wast a God that forgavest them,

Though thou tookest vengeance of their doings.

Exalt ye the Lord our God, And worship at his holy hill; For the Lord our God is holy. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all lands. ye

Serve the Lord with gladness:

Come before his presence with singing.

Know ye that the Lord, he is God: It is he that hath made us, and we are his;

We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving,

And into his courts with praise: Give thanks unto him, and bless his

name.

For the Lord is good; his mercy endureth forever,

And his truth unto all generations.

Fifty-second Sunday

Morning

Give ear, O my people, to my law: Incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old, Which we have heard and known, And our fathers have told us.

We will not hide them from their children,

Telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord,

And his strength, and his wondrous works that he hath done.

For he established a testimony in Jacob,

And appointed a law in Israel,

Which he commanded our fathers, That they should make them known to their children;

That the generation to come might know them, even the children that should be born;

Who should arise and tell them to their children,

That they might set their hope in
God,

And not forget the works of God,
But keep his commandments,

And might not be as their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation,

A generation that set not their heart aright,

And whose spirit was not steadfast with God.

Marvelous things did he in the sight of their fathers,

In the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.

He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through;

And he made the waters to stand as a heap.

In the daytime also he led them with a cloud,

And all the night with a light of fire.

He clave rocks in the wilderness, And gave them drink abundantly as out of the depths.

He brought streams also out of the rock,

And caused waters to run down like rivers.

To rebel against the Most High in the desert.

And they tempted God in their heart

By asking food according to their desire.

Yea, they spake against God; They said, Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?

Behold, he smote the rock, so that waters gushed out,

And streams overflowed;

Can he give bread also?

Will he provide flesh for his people?

Therefore the Lord heard, and was wroth;

And a fire was kindled against Jacob,

And anger also went up against Israel;

Because they believed not in God, And trusted not in his salvation.

Yet he commanded the skies above, And opened the doors of heaven;

And he rained down manna upon them to eat,

And gave them food from heaven. Man did eat the bread of the mighty:

He sent them food to the full.

And they remembered that God
was their rock,

And the Most High God their
Redeemer.

Evening

Praise ye the Lord.

Oh give thanks unto the Lord; for

Yet went they on still to sin against he is good; him,

For his mercy endureth forever.
