Christ, give up everything for Christ—give up everything; you must give it up. Store your minds with the Word of God, that when you want it, and can neither read it yourself nor hear another read it to you, you may have it with you, and the Holy Ghost bring it all to your remembrance. Sound Jesus abroad, publish Him in the Church, publish Him everywhere—go on and prosper. I want the image of Christ; I want Him in everything, every moment." Towards evening, she prayed most earnestly that the Lord would take her to Himself, if it were his blessed will, that night, begging us to pray that it might be so, and that it might be without much suffering; and the Lord granted her request. She said, "Come, blessed Jesus, come quickly, for I cannot stay here without Thy presence; I want Thee every moment. Oh, Lord Jesus! do not depart from me for one moment!" Upon this she beckoned with her hand. I thought she was in want of something, but she regarded me not. Her mind seemed quite absorbed with Jesus. In the midst of some restlessness she continued speaking of her Lord, till seven minutes past midnight on Monday, when she fell asleep in Him whom she had given such evidence that her soul loved. Her last text which she mentioned was, "If Thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquity, O Lord, who shall stand?" (Ps. cxxx. 3.) A Tablet, a copy of the inscription of which is transcribed upon the following page, was placed over the vault in the chapel at John-street, where her mortal remains were for a time deposited. Mr. Evans signified in his will his desire that he should be interred in the Cemetery at Highgate, and that the remains of his wife should then be removed thither. Beneath is a copy of the words which appear upon the Tablet erected in the school-room, where the disorder which terminated her life first attacked her. CAROLINE, SECOND DAUGHTER OF THE LATE T.
