6 Brightness of the Father's glory,
Shall Thy praise unuttered lie?
Fly, my tongue, such guilty silence!
Sing the Lord who came to die;
7 From the highest throne in glory,
To the cross of deepest woe;
All to ransom guilty captives;
Flow, my praise for ever flow.
8 Go, return, immortal Saviour!

Leave Thy footstool, take Thy throne;
Thence return, and reign for ever:
Be the kingdom all Thine own.

He humbled himself, and became obedient unto
death.-Phil. 2. 8.

1 NOW for a hymn of lofty praise
To great Jehovah's equal Son;
Awake, my voice, in heavenly lays,
Proclaim the wonders He hath done.
2 Sing how He left the worlds of light,
And the bright robes He wore above:
How swift and joyful was His flight,
On wings of everlasting love.

3 Down to this base, this sinful earth,
He came to raise our nature high;
He came to give us second birth,
Jesus, the God, was born to die.
4 Deep in the shades of gloomy death
The Almighty captive prisoner lay:
The Almighty captive left the earth,
And rose to everlasting day.

5 Amongst a thousand harps and songs,
Jesus, our God, exalted reigns;

His sacred name fills all their tongues,
And echoes through the heavenly plains.

The glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. -2 Cor. 4. 6.

NOW

!

song Awake my soul, awake my tongue; Hosanna to the Eternal name, And all His boundless love proclaim. 2 See where it shines in Jesus' face, The brightest image of His grace; God, in the person of His Son, Has all His mightiest works outdone. 3 The spacious earth and spreading flood Proclaim the wise and powerful God; And His rich glories from afar Sparkle in every rolling star. 4 But in His looks a glory stands, The noblest labour of Thy hands; The pleasing lustre of His eyes Outshines the wonders of the skies. 5 Grace! tis a sweet, a charming theme; My thoughts rejoice at Jesus' name: Ye angels, dwell upon the sound! Ye heavens, reflect it to the ground! 60 may I live to reach the place Where He unveils His lovely face; There all His beauties to behold, And sing His name to harps of gold!

They sing the song of Moses and of the Lamb.
-Rev. 15. 3.

WAKE, and sing the song

Wake every heart and every tongue,
To praise the Saviour's name.

2 Sing of His dying love;
Sing of His rising power;
Sing how He intercedes above,
For those whose sins He bore.
Ye pilgrims on the road
To Zion's city, sing;

Rejoice ye in the Lamb of God,
In Christ the Eternal King.
Soon shall we hear Him say,
Ye blessed children, come;
Soon will He call us hence away,
And take His wanderers home.
There shall each raptured tongue
His endless praise proclaim;
And sing in sweeter notes the song
Of Moses and the Lamb.

I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world.-John 16. 28.

COME, every pious heart,

That loves the Saviour's name,
Your noblest powers exert

To celebrate His fame;

Tell all above and all below,

The debt of love to Him you owe.

He left His starry crown,

And laid His robes aside;
On wings of love came down,
And wept, and bled, and died;
What He endured, Oh, who can tell!
To save our souls from death and hell.

From the dark grave He rose,

The mansion of the dead,

And thence His mighty foes
In glorious triumph led;

Up through the sky the Conqueror rode,
And reigns on high the Saviour God.

4

From thence He'll quickly come,

His chariot will not stay,

But bear our spirits home

To realms of endless day; There shall we see His lovely face, And ever be in His embrace.

Greater love hath no man than this.-John 15. 13.

our Redeemer's glorious name,
Awake the sacred song;

may His love-immortal flame-
Tune every heart and tongue.

2 His love what mortal thought can reach, What mortal tongue display? Imagination's utmost stretch

In wonder dies away.

3 Let wonder still with love unite,
And gratitude and joy;
Jesus be our supreme delight,
His praise our blest employ.

4 Jesus, who left His throne on high,
Left the bright realms of bliss,
And came to earth to bleed and die!
Was ever love like this?

5 O may the sweet, the blissful theme,
Fill every heart and tongue;

Till strangers love Thy charming name,
And join the sacred song.

8.7.

Hail, King of the Jews.-Mark 15. 18.
AIL! Thou once despised Jesus,
Hail! Thou Galilean king!

HAIL

Thou didst suffer to release us;

Thou didst free salvation bring:

Hail! Thou agonizing Saviour, Bearer of our sin and shame! By Thy merits we find favour; Life is given through Thy name. 2 Paschal Lamb, by God appointed, All our sins on Thee were laid; By Almighty love anointed,

Thou hast full atonement made: All Thy people are forgiven

Through the virtue of Thy blood; Opened is the gate of heaven;

Man is reconciled to God.

3 Jesus, hail! enthroned in glory,
There for ever to abide!

All the heavenly host adore Thee,
Seated at Thy Father's side:
There for sinners Thou art pleading;
There Thou dost our place prepare;
Ever for us interceding,

Till in glory we appear.

4 Worship, honour, power, and blessing,
Thou art worthy to receive;
Loudest praises without ceasing,
Meet it is for us to give:
Help, ye bright angelic spirits!
Bring your sweetest, noblest lays;
Help to sing our Saviour's merits,
Help to chant Immanuel's praise!

WHAT equal honour shall we bring, To Thee, O Lord our God, the Lamb, When all the notes that angels sing Are far inferior to Thy name?
