Now in the place where he was crucified, there was a garden; and in the garden a new fepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. 42. There laid they Jefus therefore, becaufe of the Jews preparation, for the fepulchre was nigh at hand.

have taken away the Lord out of the fepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. 3. Peter therefore went forth, and that other difciple, and came to the fepulchre. 4. So they ran both together: and the other difciple did outrun Peter, and came firft to the fepulchre. 5. And he ftooping down, and looking in, faw them linen clothes lying; yet went he not in. 6. Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the fepulchre, and feeth the linen clothes lie; 7. And the napkin that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by it felf. 8. Then went in alfo that other difciple which came firft to the fepulchre, and he faw, and believed. 9. For as yet they knew not the fcripture, that he muft rife again from the dead. 10. (1) The Papifts, to fupport their abfurd Doctrine of Tranfubftantiation, would understand thefe Words, as if our Lord penetrated through the Doors, they continuing fhut, and appeared among his Difciples; but there is no Foundation for fuch a Conceit; for our Lord might filent ly open the Doors and come in amongst them, without their perceiving It. I fee no inconfiftency in putting fuch a Senfe upon thefe Words But if we fhould fuppofe, with the Papifts, that his Body penetrated through the Doors, it will deftroy one end of his Appearing among them, which feems to be, to convince them that he was rifen with the fame Body that was crucified, which he proved to them, by fhewing them his Hands, and his Side, Ver. 20.

FTER these things Jefus fhewed himself again to

the difciples at the fea of Tiberias; and on this wife fhewed he himself: 2. There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the fons of Zebedee, and two other of his dif ciples. 3. Simon Peter faith unto them, I go a fishing. They fay unto him, We alfo go with thee. They went forth, and entred into á fhip immediately; and that night they caught nothing. 4. But when the morning was now come, Jefus ftood on the fhore: but the difciples f knew not that it was Jefus. 5. Then Jefus faith unto them, * Children [Or, Sirs], have ye any meat? They answered him, No. he faid unto them, Caft the net on the right fide of the fhip, and ye fhall find. They caft therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. 7. Therefore that difciple whom Jefus loved, faith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fishers coat unto him, (for he was (1) naked)
