6 Thy noblest wonders here we view,
In souls renewed, and sins forgiven:
Lord cleanse our sins, our souls renew,
And make Thy word our guide to heaven.

Psalm xix.

WATTS.

BER

EHOLD the morning sun
Begin his glorious way;

His beams through all the nations run,
And life and light convey.

But, where the gospel comes,

It spreads diviner light;

It calls dead sinners from their tombs,
And gives the blind their sight.

My gracious God, how plain
Are Thy directions given !
O may I never read in vain,
But find the path to heaven!

I hear Thy word with love,
And I would fain obey:
Send Thy good Spirit from above,
To guide me, lest I stray.

Warn me of every sin,
Forgive my secret faults,

And cleanse this guilty soul of mine,
Whose crimes exceed my thoughts.

6

While, with my heart and tongue I spread Thy praise abroad, Accept the worship and the song, My Saviour and my God.

EE how great a flame aspires,
Kindled by a spark of grace.

Jesus' love the nation fires,
Sets the kingdoms on a blaze.

2 When He first the work begun,
Small and feeble was His day;
Now the word doth swiftly run,
Now it wins its widening way.

3 More and more it spreads and grows,
Ever mighty to prevail;

Sin's strong-holds it overthrows,
Shakes the trembling gates of hell.

4 Saw ye not the cloud arise,
Little as a human hand?

Now it spreads along the skies,
Hangs o'er all the thirsty land.

5 Lo! the promise of a shower
Drops already from above;
But the Lord will shortly pour
All the Spirit of His love.

[blocks in formation]

(ALVATION! O the joyful sound;
'Tis pleasure to our ears;

A sovereign balm for every wound,
A cordial for our fears.

2 Buried in sorrow and in sin,
At hell's dark door we lay;
But we arise, by grace divine,
To see a heavenly day.

3 Salvation! let the echo fly

The spacious earth around; While all the armies of the sky Conspire to raise the sound.

CHORUS.

Glory, honour, praise, and power,
Be unto the Lamb for ever!
Jesus Christ is our Redeemer ;
Hallelujah Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Praise ye the Lord!

WATTS.

1 YREAT God, to Thee my voice I raise,

my youngest

I would begin my life with praise,
Till growing years improve the song.

2 'Tis to Thy sovereign grace I owe
That I was born on British ground,
Where streams of heavenly mercy flow,
And words of sweet salvation sound.

3 How do I pity those who dwell
Where ignorance and darkness reigns!
They know no heaven, they fear no hell-
Those endless joys, those endless pains.

4 Thy praise shall still employ my breath, Since Thou hast marked my way to heaven; Teach me to shun the road to death,

Nor waste the blessings Thou hast given.

Isaiah Ix. 2.

dark and cruel regions,

Where God is never known,
What poor benighted legions,
Kueel down to wood and stone.

2 In trouble, pain, and sadness,-
When death the loved ones parts,
They have no beam of gladness
To shine into their hearts.

3 But cruel acts, and anguish,
And one unbroken gloom,
Are where the dying languish,
And cloud the closing tomb.

4 Shine forth, O God, with power,
This darkness chase away!
And speed the promised hour,
The noon of gospel day!

161 Prov. xxix. 18. L.M.
THE heathen perish; day by day,

1

Thousands on thousands pass away:
O Christians, to their rescue fly;
Preach Jesus to them ere they die.

2 Wealth, labour, talents, freely give,
Yea, life itself,-that they may live.
What hath your Saviour done for you?
And what for Him will ye not do?

3 Thou Spirit of the Lord, go forth;
Call in the South, wake up the North;
Of every clime, from sun to sun,
Gather God's children into one.

TOPLADY.

1 BThe gladly solemn sound

LOW ye the trumpet, blow:

Let all the nations know,

To earth's remotest bound.

The year of Jubilee is come;
Return, ye ransomed sinners, home.
