Art. I. Les hautes parties contractantes s'engagent à faire ce qui dépendra d'elles pour opérer le rétablissement de la paix entre la Russie et la Sublime Porte sur des bases solides et durables, et pour garantir l'Europe contre le retour des regrettables complications qui viennent de troubler si malheureusement la paix générale.

Art. II. L'intégrité de l'empire ottoman se trouvant violée par l'occupation des provinces de Moldavie et de Valachie, et par d'autres mouvemens des troupes russes, Leurs Majestés l'Empereur des Français et la Reine du Royaume-Uni de la Grande-Bretagne et d'Irlande se sont concertées et se concerteront sur les moyens les plus propres à affranchir le territoire du Sultan de l'invasion étrangère et à atteindre le but spécifié dans l'art. I. Who, after having communicated to each other their full-powers, found in good and due form, have agreed upon and signed the following Articles:

Art. I. The High Contracting Parties engage to do all that shall depend upon them for the purpose of bringing about the re-establishment of peace between Russia and the Sublime Porte on solid and durable bases, and of preserving Europe from the recurrence of the lamentable complications which have now so unhappily disturbed the general peace.

Art. II. The integrity of the Ottoman Empire being violated by the occupation of the Provinces of Moldavia and of Wallachia, and by other movements of the Russian troops, Their Majesties the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and the Emperor of the French have concerted, and will concert together as to the most proper means for liberating the territory of the Sultan from foreign invasion, and for accomplishing the object specified in Article I. For this purpose they engage to maintain, according to the requirements of the war, to be judged of by common agreement, sufficient naval and military forces to meet those requirements, the description, number, and destination whereof shall, if occasion should arise, be determined by subsequent arrangements.

Art. VI. La présente convention sera ratifiée, et les ratifications seront échangées à Londres dans l'espace de huit jours.

cution of the present Convention, the High Contracting Parties engage not to entertain any overture or any proposition having for its object the cessation of hostilities, nor to enter into any arrangement with the Imperial Court of Russia, without having first deliberated thereupon in common.

Art. IV. The High Contracting Parties being animated with a desire to maintain the balance of power in Europe, and having no interested ends in view, renounce beforehand the acquisition of any advantage for themselves from the events which may occur.

Art. V. Their Majesties the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and the Emperor of the French will readily admit into their alliance, in order to cooperate for the proposed object, such of the other Powers of Europe as may be desirous of becoming party to it.

Årt. VI. The present Convention shall be ratified, and the ratifications shall be exchanged at London within eight days.

Dieselben sind, nach Austausch ihrer genügend befundenen Vollmachten, über folgende Punkte übereingekommen:

I. Se. Majestät der König von Preussen und Se. K. K. Apostolische Majestät garantiren Sich gegenseitig den Besitz Ihrer deutschen und ausserdeutschen Länder, so dass jeder auf das Ländergebiet des Einen gerichtete Angriff, woher er auch komme, auch von dem Andern als ein gegen das eigene Gebiet gerichtetes feindliches Unternehmen angesehen werden wird.

II. In gleicher Weise halten Sich die hohen Contrahenten für verpflichtet, die Rechte und Interessen Deutschlands gegen alle und jede Beeinträchtigung zu schützen, und betrachten Sich demnach zur gemeinsamen Abwehr jedes Angriffs auf irgend einen Theil Ihrer Gebiete auch in dem Falle als verbunden, wenn Einer derselben im Einverständnisse mit dem Andern zur Wahrung deutscher Interessen aktiv vorzugehen Sich veranlasst findet.
