1 Mark the soft-falling snow,
And the diffusive rain ;
They turn not back again,
Arrayed in beauteous green,
By providence divine;
So, saith the God of grace,
The purpose 1 intend;
1 The Spirit breathes upon the word,
And brings the truth to sight;
A sanctifying light.
2 A glory gilds the sacred page,
Majestic, like the sun:
It gives, but borrows none. 3 The hand that gave it still supplies
The gracious light and heat:
They rise, but never set:
For such a bright display,
With beams of heavenly day. 5 My soul rejoices to pursue
The steps of him I love;
In brighter worlds above.
1 Our blest Redeemer, ere he breathed
His tender, last farewell,
With us to dwell. 2 He came in tongues of living flame,
To teach, convince, subdue;
As viewless too.
3 He came, sweet inflence to impart,
A gracious, willing guest,
Wherein to rest.
Soft as the breath of even,
And speaks of heaven. 5 And every virtue we possess,
And every victory won,
Are His alone.
Our weakness pitying see,
And worthier Thee !
1 Pour, blessed Gospel, glorious news for man!
Thy stream of life o'er springless deserts roll :
And make one brotherhood from pole to pole. 2 On, piercing Gospel, on/ of every heart,
In every latitude, thou own'st the key :
3 Tread, kingly Gospel, through the nations tread!
With all the civil virtues in thy train :
And Christ, the true Emancipator, reign ! 4 Spread, giant Gospel, spread thy growing wings !
Gather thy scattered ones from every land:

1 0 Spirit of the living God!
In all Thy plenitude of grace,
Descend on our benighted race.
To preach the reconciling word;
Whene'er the joyful sound is heard. 3 Be darkness, at Thy coming, light;
Confusion, order in Thy path :
Bid mercy triumph over wrath. 4 O Spirit of the Lord I prepare
All the round earth her God to meet;
5 Baptize the nations; far and nigh,
The triumphs of the Cross record ;
1 Around the throne of grace we meet,
In Pentecostal bands,
And join our hearts and hands. 2 Now all as one, and one as all,
Faith, feelings, hopes the same, On our Lord Jesus Christ we call,
And glorify his name. 3 At once upon ten thousand flowers,
The morning sunbeams strike; Millions of blades of grass, Spring showers
Baptize from heaven alike.
On our assembly shine,
Our souls with peace divine.
Rejoicing let us say,
While Christ went all our way?"
