ST. AGNES SCHOOL

The Corning Foundation for Christian work in the Diocese of Albany was in corporated in 1873. St. Agnes School was the first work undertaken by the Trustees, and its only educational work.

The School was founded in 1870 by the Rt. Rev. Bishop Doane.

Albany, N. Y.

ST. AGNES SCHOOL occupies large buildings, situated on high ground, designed, built for, and thoroughly adapted to, school needs.

The arrangements for Boarding Pupils are unusual and are considered a great advance upon the usual boarding school standards. They are such as careful parents heartily approve. Especial attention is given to health.

There is a Lower School and a Middle School, covering the entire education of a girl up to a thorough prepara tion for college. There is also an Upper School whi h of fers more advanced work to more mature students, to graduates of which the St. Agnes Diploma is awarded. It is all under the supervision of the Bishop of Albany.

RIVERVIEW ACADEMY

A Classical, English and Military School.

FOUNDATION. The school which is now located at Riverview was founded in 1836 by Charles Bartlett, Senator Nathaniel P. Tallmadge and others, at College Hill, Poughkeepsie, N. Y., and was known as the Poughkeepsie Collegiate School. In 1849 Otis Bisbee became connected with the school as an instructor, and in 1857 became principal. In 1867 Mr. Bisbee removed the school from College Hill to its present site overlooking the Hudson and it then became known as Riverview Academy. In 1879 Mr. Bisbee's son, Joseph Bartlett Bisbee, became a teacher in the school and in 1883 was associated with his father as one of the principals, and since 1895 has been the sole principal and owner under whose guidance the school has continued.

AIM

METHOD

It is the aim of Riverview to cultivate concentration, observation, and reasoning power. Boys are prepared for college, the Scientific Schools, the Government Acad emies, and business life by a body of instructors who have been men of high scholarship in their respective colleges. The military department is under the guidance of a U. S. Army officer detailed by the government.

Riverview makes manly boys and boys of robust physique by drill, sports, and exercises out of doors. It trains the physical to aid the mental. Athletics and all sports are encouraged in proportion as they help to build up the mental capacity. Riverview is non-sectarian, but attendance at all prescribed religious exercises is required. A student at the Union Seminary, New York City, is in charge of the Bible study. For full information address JOSEPH B. BISBEE, A. M.

HE SCHOOL is divided into three parts-the Lower School, the Middle School and the Upper School, each including three grades, leading up to a complete preparation for the leading colleges and scientific schools.

Physical training is a regular part of the curriculum, and students are required to take daily exercise, either upon the athletic grounds or in the gymnasium, under the direction and supervision of the physical director and his assistants.

Wholesome supervision and personal attention to each pupil are the leading features of the school's policy. The courses of study include not only the regular classical and scientific studies taught in the best preparatory schools, but also attractive courses in shopwork and instrumental music.

The arrangements for resident pupils provide a wholesome substitution for home life. Since the school was started in 1890 it has always maintained an exceptional record for sound and thorough scholarship.
