C. Benedict, he carried out successfully; repeated the operation with like success in Chicago; bought up all the street car lines in Albany and Troy, and equipped them with electricity; rebuilt the "Huckleberry" railway system in New York City; after he had completed his contract could not get his pay and kept the road; became acquainted with William C. Whitney and other railroad magnates and planned the consolidation of all the New York City surface lines; promoted similar combinations in Washington, Philadelphia and other cities.
