AVERY, SAMUEL PUTNAM-Retired Engraver, 4 East 38th street, New York City. Born in New York City, March 17, 1822. Columbia College, in 1896, conferred upon him the degree of Master of Arts. (Married Mary A., daughter of Henry Aaron Ogden of New York City.) Appointed commissioner of the American art department at the Universal Exhibition of 1867 in Paris, France.
