STATE OF NEW YORK, ss. :
We, the undersigned, Isaac TOWNSEND, R. J. Cross, H. DE COPPET, H. S. HOYT, EDWARD LA MONTAGNE, and RUTHERFURD STUYVESANT, all of full age, citizens of the United States, and a majority also citizens of the State of New York, desiring to form ourselves into a society or club, under and by virtue of the laws of said State, and in pursuance of the provisions of an Act entitled “An Act for the incorporation of societies or clubs for certain lawful purposes,” passed May the twelfth, eighteen hundred and seventy-five, and laws amendatory thereof and supplemental thereto, do hereby certify:
FIRST.—That the name or title by which the society or club shall be known in law is the RACQUET AND TENNIS CLUB.
SECOND.—That the particular business and object of the society or club is and shall be to encourage all manly sports among its members.
THIRD.—That the number of trustees, directors, or managers to manage the society or club is and shall be twenty.
FOURTH.—That the names of the trustees, directors or managers for the first year of the society or club's exist
