you have your fruit to sanctification, and your end life everlasting. For the wages of sin is death; but life everlasting is a favour of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

GOSPEL. Matt. vii. 15. 21.

T that time: Jesus said to his disciples: Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's cloathing, but within are ravenous wolves: by their fruits you shall know them. Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit, but a bad tree bringeth forth bad fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth bad fruit; nor a bad tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that yieldeth not good fruit, shall be cut down, and cast into the fire. By their fruits therefore you shall know them. It is not every one, who saith to me, Lord, Lord; shall enter the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my father, who is in heaven, shall enter the kingdom of heaven. CREDO.

OFFERT. Dan. iii. As a whole-burnt offering of rams, and bulls, and thousands of fat sheep; so let our sacrifice be this day in thy sight, that it may please thee; for there is no shame to those who put their trust in thee, O Lord.

Sicut in holocaustis arietum et taurorum, et sicut in millibus agnorum pinguium; sic fiat sacrificium nostrum in conspectu tuo hodie, ut placeat tibi; quia non est confusio confidentibus in te, Domine.

SECRET. O God, who in one perfect sacrifice hast united all the various sacrifices of the law; accept from thy devout servants this sacrifice, and sanctify it by the like blessing, as thou didst the offerings of Abel: that

what each hath offered to thy divine Majesty, may avail

to the salvation of all. Thro'. COMM. Ps. xxx. Lend thine ear, make haste to re

EPISTLE. Rom. viii. 12. 17. RETHREN: We are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh, you shall die. But if by the spirit you mortify the deeds of the flesh, you shall live. For whoever are led by the spirit of God, they are the children of God. For you have not received the spirit of bondage again in fear but you have received the spirit of the adoption of children, by which we cry out Abba, Father. For the spirit itself beareth testimony to our spirit, that we are the children of God. also; heirs indeed of God,

GRAD. Ps. xxx. Be to me a protecting God, and a place of refuge to save me. V. O God, on thee have I relied: let me never O Lord, be put to shame. Alleluia, Alleluia. V. Great is the Lord, and greatly worthy of praise in the city of our God, on his holy mount. Alleluia.

And if children, then heirs and co-heirs of Christ.

GOSPEL. Luke xvi. 1. 9.

T that time: Jesus spoke to his disciples this para

A ble: There was a certain rich man who had a

steward: and he was accused to him, that he had wasted his goods. And he called him, and said to him: What is this I hear of thee? Give an account of thy stewardship: for thou canst not now be steward any longer. And the steward said within himself: What shall I do, for my Lord taketh away my stewardship? I am not able to dig, and I am ashamed to beg. I know what I will do: that when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. Having called therefore together all his Lord's debtors, he said to the first: How much owest thou to my Lord? And he said: a hundred barrels of oil. And he said to him: Take thy bill; and sit down quickly, and write fifty. Then he said to another: And how much owest thou? Who said: A hundred quarters of wheat. He said to him: Take thy bill, and write fourscore. And the Lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely.

For the children of this world are wiser in their generation, than the children of light. And I say to you: Make to yourselves friends of the Mammon of iniquity : that when you fail, they may receive you into the eternal mansions. CREDO.

OFFERT. Psalm xvii. Thou wilt save the people, that is humble, O Lord, and thou wilt humble the eyes of the proud ones: for who is God besides thee, O Lord.

Populum humilem salvum facies, Domine, & oculos superborum humiliabis: quoniam quis Deus præter te, Domine.

SECRET. Receive, we beseece thee, O Lord, the offerings we bring, which are the gifts of thy own bounty that these most holy mysteries may, by the power of thy grace, make our conduct in this life holy, and bring us to those joys that will never end. Thro.'

COMM. Ps. xxxiii. Taste, and see, how sweet is the Lord blessed is the man, who putteth his trust in him.

Gustate & videte, quoniam suavis est Dominus : beatus vir, qui sperat in eo.

EPISTLE. 1 Cor. x. 6. 13.

:

RETHREN: Let us not be desirous of evil things, as they were. Neither become ye idolaters, like some of them as it is written: The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them did; and for it three and twenty thousand fell in one day. Neither let us

tempt Christ, as some of them tempted him, and were destroyed by serpents. Neither murmer ye, as some of them murmured, and fell by the destroyer. Now all these things happened to them in figure; and they were wrote for our instruction, on whom the end of the world is come. Wherefore let him, who thinketh that he standeth, take heed lest he fall. Let no temptation seize you, but such as is human; for God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above your strength, but will even make you improve by the temptation, that you may be able to persevere.
