HYMN LXXX. C. M.

On Psalm xliv. 4 to 8.

J. PROUD.

1THOU most high; HOU art the mighty King of kings,

Israel is safe beneath thy wings,
Thy servants shall not die.

2 Thro' thee we shall the vict❜ry gain,
Tho' hosts of hell oppose;

Thou art our God, and thou wilt reign,
In spite of all thy foes.

5 We trust not in our bow or sword,
For weakness is our pow'r ;
In thee we trust, almighty Lord,
Thro' ev'ry dang'rous hour.

4 Thou hast already set us free,
And put our foes to shame ;
Beneath thy banner still we'll be,
Our refuge is thy name.

5 In thee we boast, thou God of love,
Thy holy name adore ;

And as we rise to heav'n above,
We'll love and praise thee more.

HYMN LXXXI. L. M.
Consecration of a New Temple.

J. PROVD.

1 Bin ev'ry heart, and ev'ry voice;

EGIN the song, aloud rejoice,

Jesus the God of heav'n proclaim,
And let these walls resound his name.

2 Hark, angels sing his praise above,
The heav'ns re-echo with his love;
His second advent angels sing,

And new the songs that hail their King. 3 Ye christians learn the rapt'rous lays, In songs of love advance his praise; Now welcome Jesus to the soul, And sound his praise from pole to pole. 4 This temple shall his glory know, The Lord our God will dwell below; In his New Church make his abode, And reign with us, the mighty God. 5 Rise ev'ry heart, with rapture sing, Hail Jesus-hail your God and King; With all the holy angels vie,

In songs of love and equal joy.

6 Let gladness, joy, and love take place, And pleasure smile on ev'ry face; Angels and men in concert sing,

And heav'n and earth crown Jesus King.

HYMN LXXXII. 7's.

Nativity.

J. PROUD.

1HARK! the skies with music sound!

Heav'nly glory beams around;

Christ is born! the angels sing,
Glory to the new-born King.

2 Peace is come, good-will appears,
Sinners wipe away your tears;
God in human flesh to-day
Humbly in the manger lay.

3 Shepherds tending flocks by night,
Heard the song, and saw the light;
Took their reeds, and softest strains
Echo'd thro' the happy plains.

4 Mortals, hail the glorious King!
Richest incense cheerful bring;
Praise and love Emanuel's name,
And his boundless grace proclaim.'

HYMN LXXXIII. L. M.

TH

Nativity

J. PROUD.

HE angels sing; rise, mortals, rise,
And aid the concert of the skies:
Glow ev'ry heart with love divine,
And universal nature join.

2 Now sin the monster shall be bound,
And devils feel the deadly wound :
A dying world shall live again,
And Christ alone triumphant reign.

3 Jesus the God, his honor'd name
Shall shine with everlasting fame;
Nations unborn his praises sing,
And all existence hail him King.

HYMN LXXXIV. C. M.

UNITED CHRISTIAN FRIENDS. ARENT of nature, God supreme, Thy works are great and good! All nature manifests thy name,

The sky, the earth, the flood.

2 Thine is the cheerful day, and thine
The dark return of night;

Thou hast prepar'd the sun to shine,
And ev'ry feebler light.

3 By thee, each region of the earth
In perfect order stands ;

The glowing south, the frozen north
Obey thy fix'd commands.

4 At thy command, the solid rock
Pourd water from its side;

And thou didst lead thy chosen flock,
Thro' Jordan's parting tide.

5 If nature owns its sov'reign Lord,
We would obey thy will;

And whilst we trust thy faithful word,
We sing thy praises still.

HYMN LXXXV. C. M.

U. C. F.

1 ORD thou art good, all nature shows

Thee full and free and kind;

Thy bounty thro' creation flows,
Nor can it be confin'd.

2 The whole in every part proclaims
Thy infinite good will!

It shines in stars, it flows in streams,
And bursts from every hill.

4

3 It fills the wide extended main,
And heavens which spread more wide;
It drops in gentle showers of rain,
And rolls in every tide.

4 Still hath it been diffus'd and free,
Through ages past and gone;
Nor ever can exhausted be,
But still keeps flowing on.

5 Through the whole earth it pours supplies
Spreads joy thro' all its parts;
Lord, may thy goodness draw our eyes,
And captivate our hearts.

6 High admiration let it raise,
And kind affections move;
Employ our tongues in hymns of praise,
And fill our hearts with love.
