3 Will God accept of praise from dust,
From sinful, fleshly worms?
Shall we enjoy a sweet repast,
With those celestial forms?
4 Yes! free redemption opes the door,
Makes man a welcome guest;
Our God receives the humble poor,
And we are richly blest.

5 We enter then our Father's house,
Made welcome by his love;
Ilis kindness doth our hearts espouse,
And all our passions move.

6 Let all unite with sweet accord,
Some grateful tune to raise ;
With joy unfeigned own him Lord,
And celebrate his praise.

HYMN IX. C. M.

Opening worship-before sermon.

NTO thy presence, Lord, we come,
To celebrate thy praise,

[ocr errors]

To realize thy sacred truth,

And on thy glories gaze;

To join in pray'r, and at thy feet

With list'ning ears attend,
The lessons thou wilt kindly teach,
And message thou wilt send.

3 We're gather'd here in thy great name, Thou Friend of all our race,

We look to thee for all we need,
And wait thy smiling face.

4 In feeble notes we raise our song,
With gratitude to thee;

Inspire our hearts, thou fount of life,
That we inflam'd may be ;

5 Kindle in us that sacred flame,
Of love and zeal for truth;
Which leads the soul most swiftly on
Towards eternal youth.

6 So shall thy praise be our employ,
In that bright world above,
Where all are rul'd in sweet concord,
By thine all conquʼring love.

HYMN X. C. M.

Praise-Salvation.

SALVATION! sweet melodious sound!
Let ev'ry creature hear;
The gospel shews a ransom found,
And wipes off ev'ry tear.

CHORUS.

Glory, honour, praise and power,
Be unto the Lamb forever!
Jesus Christ is our Redeemer !
Hallelujah! praise the Lord.

2 Salvation! wrought in Christ for all;
No partial work, or love;

But friendship here for great and small,、 Appears from heav'n above.

Glory, &c.

3 Salvation! glorious work of God; Divine, complete, and full;

Love sends the gladsome news abroad, And we the wonder tell.

Glory, &c.

Salvation! O delightful theme!
Let all the world rejoice;
Let all adore the Saviour's name,
With one united voice.

Glory, &c.

5 Salvation! yes, the work is done! Our sinking souls to raise ;

While we admire the friendship shewn, Let all unite in praise.

Glory, &c.

HYMN XI. C. M.

On the ushering in of Gospel light.

OW long in darkness Lord,

Thy people have been led,

But now a beam of light from heav'n, Dispels the gloomy shade.

2 The morning sun begins,

To usher in the day,

The gospel yields the promis'd fruit,
And drives the night away.

3 While Satan's friends oppose,
The rays of heav'nly light,
The beaming glories split the clouds,
And truth appears more bright.

4 Celestial fire consumes

The works of dark designs,
And while the foe exerts his skill,
The light more glorious shines.

HYMN XII. 7.

Peace on earth, good will towards men. "PEACE," the gospel loud proclaims, "Peace on earth, good will to men ;" Love enrols our favour'd names, In the book of life again.

CHORUS.

Zion need no more complain,
Man's restor❜d to God again.

2 Songs of joy salute our ears,

Man's redeem'd from cruel death;
Love has wip'd away his tears,
Love restores the living breath.
Zion, &c.

3 Sweet the theme the angel's sing;
God invites, let man rejoice :
Jesus, conqu❜ror, heav'nly King,
Meets us with a friendly voice.
Zion, &c.

4 Sinners, come, embrace the Son;
Rebels bow and own him Lord,
Bow before his glitt'ring throne;
Yield submission to the WORD.
Zion, &c.

HYMN XIII. C. M.

Zion brought from her invisible, to her promised visible state; exhibited terrible to her ene mies as an army with banners A hint.

[ocr errors]

THEN Zion from her closet comes,

Win royal state, to see

The kingly glories of her Lord,
And 's made completely free,

2 The captive shall a captive take,
The Man of Sin must yield;
The saints a vict'ry then will gain,
And shall possess the field.
3 The kingdom and dominion too,
The greatness of the whole;
They shall command throughout the world,
And that without control.

4 Control'd by none but Christ their Head,
By whom they're authoriz'd ;
They'll reign and judge in righteousness,
But not by laws devis'd.

5 Eternal and unchanging laws,
The holy laws of right;

The will of God by these express'd,
Abroad shall spread the light.

THE HINT.

C

OME favour'd people, join the song,
And with the bright celestial throng,
Unite in sweet seraphic strains,
To testify the Saviour reigns.
